Jerry Lynn Bailey, 83, passed away July 19, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1937 to his parents, the late Campbell and Mae Malone Bailey. He was a member of Faith Congregational Methodist Church in Dowelltown. He was a Machine mechanic for Work Wear in Alexandria, and later Texas Boot in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son; Tony Lynn Bailey, all of Alexandria. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Stone Bailey of Alexandria, daughter Melinda Tallent of Smithville. Grandchildren; Sabra (Jeremy) Murphy of Smithville, Chris (Brandi) Cantrell of Crossville, Leslie Bailey & Jay Ellis of Alexandria. Great grandchildren, Braya Murphy & Haden Cripps of Cookeville, Briahna Murphy of Smithville, Celeb and Dylan Cantrell of Crossville. Great great grandchild Kayleigh Goodman, daughter-in-law Connie Bailey, and special cousin Jimmie Carter all of Alexandria. Funeral services will be at Anderson Funeral Home with visitation being held on Tuesday from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am till service time at 11 am with Bro. Mark Miller officiating with interment to follow in Hillview cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Murphy, Jay Ellis, Blake Goad, Dylan Cantrell, Ernest Cantrell, Jr., Haden Cripps. Clarence Harrison “C.H.” Lockhart

Mr. Clarence Harrison “C.H.” Lockhart age 84 of Smithville passed away Sunday afternoon at his daughter’s home. He was born May 26, 1937 to his parents, the late Blue and Maude Lockhart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia Sellers and Mainell Trogden. Mr. Lockhart served in the United States Army and worked at Textron/ Avco. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine Ramsey Lockhart of Smithville; 4 children, Gwen (Keith) Chisam of McMinnville, Tony (Tish) Lockhart of Sparta, Sherry (Duane) Hickey of Nashville, and Amy Clare Lockhart (Keith) Randolph of Smithville; grandchildren, Jeremy (Nicole) Chisam of McMinnville, Jeff (Courtney) Chisam of McMinnville, and Nic Linder of Smithville; extended grandchildren, Lee, Gracie, Garrison Randolph; great-grandchildren, Aniston, Brayden, Brynlee, Brody Chisam all of McMinnville; special nieces, Kathy Mayer, and Mandi Parker; special nephew, Bryan Parker; aunt, Helen Trusty of Smithville; caregivers, Marilyn Mashburn and Jimmie Kirby. Graveside services will be 6 PM Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Donnie Johnson officiating. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys Fay Atnip age 71 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning July 16, 2021 at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro. She was born February 9, 1950 to her parents, the late Derald Eugene and Dorothy Mae Yates McVae. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Atnip; 3 sons, Michael, Bobby and Shannon Goad. She was a homemaker and garment factory worker. Ms. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Lynda Garrison of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Heather (Austin) Slater, Brianna (Aaron) Butler, Lynda Goad, Amy Goad, Brittany Newby, Kat Garcia, Michelle Goad and Michael Shane Goad; several great grandchildren; sister, Angela Booze of Oklahoma; 2 brothers, Darrell and Robert McVae both of Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Beverly Doreta Cripps, Ellen Moore and Fay Cantrell all of Smithville. The family has honored Ms. Gladys request to be cremated and no services are planned. Her cremains will be buried with her late husband Billy at Whorton Springs Cemetery. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Roy D “Pig” Curtis

A Sweet, Funny, Selfless, Loving, Tender Hearted, Compassionate, God Loving, hardworking Man who never met a stranger entered the gates of Heaven on July 18.
Roy D “Pig” Curtis died peacefully at home from a short battle with cancer. He was a farmer by trade and a member and Deacon of Helton Creek The Baptist Church. His birthday is April 15,1936. He was 85 and the son of James Thomas and Sarah Neal Curtis who preceded him in death. Also preceding him are brothers Johnny Hall (Bernice) Curtis, Monroe Curtis, James “Cowboy” (Katherine)Curtis and Ralph (Faye) Curtis. Sisters Gladys (Odell) Driver, Mary (Clarence) Cason, Mattie (Johnny) Malone, Amy (Ollie)Johnson and Gracie (Smith) Henley. Father-in-law Walter Ray Jennings Mother -in-law who he loved dearly Maybelle Jennings McMillen. Brother-in-laws Donald (Ann) Jennings, Van (Dorothy) Jennings and sister-in-Law Sarah Walker and a granddaughter Karley Madison Bayse.
He married the love of his life Linda Jennings on March 26,1960 and they had three girls AKA “the three little pigs” Connie (Bobo) Butler, Melanie (Greg)Judkins, and Meredith (Brian)Bayse who survive. Also surviving are grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Curtis, Amber Lynn Judkins, Kelsey Morgan (Zach)Edwards, Ethan Curtis Judkins, Jon Dolphus Butler, and Kendal Mason Bayse. Two great grandchildren Jaxon Baylor Scott and Charlie Jude Edwards, a brother-in-law Robert Walker, many nieces and nephews who he loved and a farm hand who worked along side him many years who he loved Terry “Fuzzy” Clark.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 20 from 2 until 8 at Anderson Funeral home in Alexandria with services being at 2 pm Wednesday, July 21 at Helton Creek The Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11 until the time of the service at the church. Services will be conducted by Brother Gary Glover and Brother Tim Bennett. Burial at Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria.
Pallbearers are Bennie Curtis, Terry Clark, Donnie Rowland, Ricky Jennings, Ethan Judkins, Jon Butler, and Kendal Bayse.
Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Cripps, Jim Brown, Jack Brown, Bobby Haley, Vic McMillen, and Thurman Seber. A seat will be reserved in memory of good friend Billy Walker who always told Daddy he was going to be his pallbearer but God took Billy first and we are sure he was there to welcome daddy to his heavenly home.

Ms. Vicky Lynn Vanatta, age 60 of Dowelltown, TN passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Vicky was born on August 6, 1960 in DeKalb County, TN to her parents, the late Ervin & Jimmie Martin Beacham. Also preceding her in death is her brother, Raymond Beacham & a sister, Mary Wray. She was self employed as a house cleaner.
The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service being held at a later time.
Survivors include 2 Children, Felisha Vanatta Cantrell of Smithville, TN & Kevin Vanatta of Smithville, TN. 6 Grandchildren. 3 Brothers, Jessie (Jan) Beacham & Jimmy (Cindy) Beacham both of McMinnville, TN, Mark (Renee) Beacham of Dowelltown, TN. 2 Sisters, Judy Beacham of PA & Barbara Beacham of Dowelltown, TN. Special Nephew & Niece, Cody Beacham of Smithville, TN & Ashley Street of MI.

Brittney Danielle Barnes age 33 of Smithville passed away Monday July 12, 2021 in Smithville. She was born February 9, 1988 to her parents, Marvin Eric Barnes and the late Tonya Elaine Bittner Caldwell. She was a retail sales clerk and a Christian. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by grandparents: Evan Bittner & Jan Bittner Anderson; Uncle: Tyler Bittner. Funeral services for Ms. Brittney will be held 1 PM Friday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in New Union Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. Survivors include Father: Eric Barnes of Smithville; 2 Children: Brooklyn Barnes and Brinson Barnes both of Smithville; Half-Brother: Cole Barnes (Molly Lemoine) of Murfreesboro; Grandparents: Brownie & Peggy Barnes of Smithville; Uncles: Darrin (Cheryl) Barnes, Jeff Barnes both of Smithville; Cousins: Brandon (Crystal) Barnes, Blake Barnes. Family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Due to COVID-19 the LOUNGE is CLOSED and NO FOOD OR DRINKS are allowed in the funeral home.
