Mack Kenneth Redmon

May 15, 2019

86 year old Mack Kenneth Redmon of Murfreesboro passed away Monday at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. He was a  Methodist, a Shriner and Mason, a veteran of the U.S. Army and he served in the military police and special forces. Redmon was also the retired head of maintenance at the Arbors of Hickory Hollow Apartment Complex. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donald Owens and Billy Hawkins will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at noon. Redmon was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Oma Summers; a son Scotty Redmon; brothers, Jessie Summers, Noel Summers, Wilson Summers,  Garlon Redmon, Jack Redmon, Lloyd Redmon,  and Nelson Redmon; sisters, Norene Anderson  and Nevelene Reeder. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Phillips of Watertown. A son, Sam and Teresa Redmon of Murfreesboro. Son-in-law Troy Phillips of Springfield. Four grandchildren, Kaitylyn and Naaman Stillwell of Hermitage, Dalton and Kelsey Phillips of Mt. Juliet, Justin and Ashton Redmon of Smithville, and Samuel Redmon of Murfreesboro. Eight great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Gabriel Stillwell, Eli, Bryson, MacKenzie, Conner, Chandler, and Braxton Redmon. Two sisters, Jeanette Smithson and Lois Randall both of Smithville.  Sister-in-law, Jo Dean Redmon. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family would like to thank AseraCare Hospice for the loving care that Mr. Redmon received while he was at home. They are grateful for the support they received from them. The transition to Alive Inpatient was wonderful and they loved and care for him at the end.




Flesha Cripps Collins

May 14, 2019

56 year old Flesha Cripps Collins of Smithville passed away Sunday at her residence. She was a Baptist. The family has chosen direct cremation.  A memorial service will be Saturday, May 18 at 3:30 p.m. at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Pastor Elisha Lawrence will officiate. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Faye Pack Cripps and a sister, Shelley Cripps. Survivors include two children, Matthew and Courtney Collins of Colorado and Morgan and Thomas Thurmond of San Antonio, Texas. Two grandchildren, AnaLeigh Thurmond of San Antonio, Texas and Elias Collins of Colorado. Father, Troy Cripps, Jr. of Smithville. Two brothers Randall and Jamie Cripps of Smithville and Jason Cripps of Smithville.  Father of their children, Al Collins. Sister-in-law, Bethany Cripps of Smithville. Nieces and nephews, Jackson Cripps, Hayden Cripps, Ellie Cripps, Elizabeth Cripps, and Dylan Cripps all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Charles Ray Gibbs

May 13, 2019

Mr. Charles Ray Gibbs, age 59 of Alexandria, TN, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019.

Mr. Gibbs was born January 14, 1960 in Alexandria, TN, a son of the late Lawrence Wendell Gibbs and Ruby Marie York Gibbs. He was also preceded in death by Brother; James Gibbs. He worked for Coffee Connection in Lebanon for several years. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Gibbs is survived by Three Sons; Bryon Gibbs of Alexandria, TN, Mark (Jennifer) Whitman of Murfreesboro, TN, and C.J. Whitman of Murfreesboro, TN. Eight grandchildren; Jackson Gibbs, Jordan Gibbs, Carter Whitman, Allie Overstreet, Adella Gibbs, Adaline Gibbs, Ayden Whitman, and Derrin Reeder. Siblings; Lawrence York, Larry Gibbs, Timmy Gibbs, Marvin Gibbs, Wendell Lee Gibbs, Terry Gibbs, Ruby Scott, and Gail Davis.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gibbs are scheduled to be conducted from the Chapel of Avant Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 1PM. Interment will follow in the Hillview Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with the Family will be at Avant Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11AM until service time at 1PM.

The Gibbs Family requests memorials in memory be made to assist with funeral expenses.




Robert Allen Moore

May 13, 2019

Robert Allen Moore age 64 of Smithville passed away Sunday morning May 12, 2019 at his residence. He was born December 31, 1954 to his parents, the late Joe Allen and Jo Dean Redmon Moore. He was retired from Federal Mogul and a member of Pomeroy Chapel Church. Survivors include wife Helen Moore of Smithville; Son: Clayton Moore of Smithville; Grandsons: Preston Robert Moore, Hunter Allen Moore of Smithville; Sisters: Wanda (Buddy) Wiggs of Christinia, Ellen (Bucky) Southard, Brenda (EJ) Bain, Tammy (Mike) Owens all of Smithville; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service will be held 4:PM Tuesday May 14, 2019 at Hale Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, all friends and family will meet at the cemetery. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements,




Katie Adcock

May 11, 2019

Katie Adcock age 92 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning, May 10, 2019 at NHC Smithville. She was born April 10, 1927 to her parents, the late Otis and Bessie Young Adcock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Jewel, Manuel, Ray, James and Franklin Adcock and a sister, Irene Adcock Turner. She was a member of the Mt. Hope The Baptist Church and a factory worker and caregiver. She is survived by 2 children, Jimmy (Marie) Luna and Carolyn Luna (Wallace) Caldwell both of Smithville; grandchildren, Kitty (Tony) Thomas, Tiffany Caldwell (Narrece), Mark Luna, Deborah Knowles France, Cynthia Knowles Carter; great-grandchildren, Xavier Dowell, Carly Thomas, Nataliyah Dowell, Hannah Luna, Dustin Hale, Josh Carter, Alicia Foster Walker, Matthew Foster and Payton France; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mitchell (Imogene) Adcock and Albert Adcock both of Smithville; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Wallace Caldwell officiating and burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 4 PM until 8 PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in memory of Ms. Katie. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Wayne Hicks

May 11, 2019

Wayne Hicks age 37 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday night, May 8, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.  He was born December 16, 1981 in Smithville to his parents, Terry Wayne Hicks and the late Barbara Thomas Hicks.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie Eugene and Vada Thomas and a niece, Kaitlyn Taylor.  Wayne was a member of the Outreach Baptist Church and a mechanic.  He is survived by 9 children, Adam Wayne Hicks, Grayson Edwin Wayne Hicks, Annyiah Hicks, Waylon Kade Hicks, Destiny Dawn Murphy, Monie Elaine Murphy, Austin Lee Estes, Allison Nichole Nash and Connor Michael Nash all Smithville; fiancé, Stephanie Trapp of Smithville; father and mom, Terry and Melissa Hicks of Liberty; siblings, April Denise Bennett of Smithville, Amanda Salazar of Manchester, Carl Cantrell of Smithville, Justin Cantrell of Cookeville, Jerry Donald Cantrell of Smithville, Dillon Hicks of Smithville and Shea Hicks of Smithville; paternal grandparents, Bobby Hicks of Georgia and Lois (Carl) Montgomery of Liberty and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 12 Noon until 3 p.m.  at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.  There will be a private funeral held with Bro. Nathan Thomason and Bro. Lewis Carrick officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
