Eddie Taylor

60 year old Eddie Taylor of Smithville passed away Tuesday at St. Thomas West in Nashville. He was a Baptist and a self-employed drywall installer. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Steve Taylor will officiate and burial will be in the Young Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Mason and Lillie Lucille Pollard Taylor and a brother, Donnie Taylor. Survivors include a daughter, Olivia Taylor; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Allison Taylor; three grandchildren, Cassidy Orcutt, Landon Hutchins, and John Luke Taylor all of Smithville. One sister, Deloris Haggard of Baxter. One brother and sister-in-law, Beecher and Betty Taylor of Smithville. Eight nieces and nephews, James Taylor of White County, Steve Taylor of Pikeville, Mike Taylor of McMinnville, John Haggard and Chris Haggard both of Baxter, Angie Moore and Charlene Hallum of Smithville and Amy Rogers of Baxter. Duane Alden Dillard

Duane Alden Dillard age 62 of Smithville and a native of Madison Heights, MI., passed away Tuesday morning March 5, 2019 at his residence. He was born March 6, 1956 to his parents, the late Howard and Jo Deane Robinson Dillard. He was a Tool & Die engineer. Duane is survived by his wife Mary Dillard of Smithville; Daughter: Tia (Jessie) Adcock of Smithville; Step-children: Nina (Jon) Cabitt of Rayburn, TN, Fabian (Elizabeth) Story of Smyrna, Valerie Story of Brush Creek; Grand-children: Caven Ponder, Caitlyn Adcock; Step-Grandchildren: Fletcher Cabitt, Sabrina Cabitt, Thomas Story, Landon Story; Sister: Sandra Dildine of Sparta; Brother: Kerry (Diane) Dillard of Troy, Michigan, David Dillard of Smithville; Special Great-Aunt: Amy Robinson. A memorial visitation will be held Monday March 11, 2019 from 2 PM until 4 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. In addition to flowers, donations can be made to Relay for Life of DeKalb County in memory of Duane. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Jerry Anthony “Tony” Bogle

Jerry Anthony “Tony” Bogle age 63 of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning, March 3, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born April 8, 1955 to his parents the late Cleason and Birdie Lee Herman Bogle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnny Farless and 2 sisters, Judy Stroud and Wanda Shoemake. He was a painter and a Baptist. Tony is survived by 1 daughter, Keisha Farless (Charles Young) of Smithville; 1 step-daughter, Amanda Stanley of Smithville; 2 grandchildren, Montana Farless and Fiancé, Ethan Lomas and Mckenzie Turner; 1 great-granddaughter, Emily Rose; 2 Sisters, Jan Davenport of Liberty, Ann (Billy Joe) Cripps of Dowelltown; 3 Brothers, Ralph (Laurel) Bogle, Joe (Vicky) Bogle and Tommy Bogle all of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2:PM Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Leonard Herman officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 3 PM until 8 PM and Tuesday 9 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements




Eddie Ray Sutton

Eddie Ray Sutton age 64 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning, March 1, 2019 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville,   He was born May 7, 1954 to his parents, the late William Edward and Rose Lee Dyer Sutton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Tommie Campbell.  Eddie was a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church, a maintenance mechanic and owned a janitorial service.  Eddie coached in youth sports for many years and enjoyed coaching every sport.  He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sutton of Smithville; 8 children, Casey (Susie) Sutton of Sparta, Dustin (Lindsey) Hedgecoth of Cookeville, April (Craig) Hale of Smithville, Barry (Marti) Hedgecoth of Cookeville, Corey Sutton of Eldora, Colorado, Jesse (Carissa) Sutton of Virginia Beach, VA, Riley Sutton of Smithville and Cheyenne Sutton of Smithville; 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Janice (Dewey) Bowman of Cookeville.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Johnny Fox and John Carpenter officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Monday 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.



Lee Hendrix

March 2, 2019

29 year old Lee Hendrix of Smithville passed away Friday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of  Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and Jordan Atnip and Chad Ramsey will officiate.  Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the time of the service at 4 p.m. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Berlie and Ruby Hendrix and great grandmother Freda Cantrell. Survivors include his parents, Farron and Gayla Hendrix of Smithville. Sisters, Ali Hendrix of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and Abigail Hendrix Wilbur and her husband Matthew of Smithville. Grandparents, Freddy and Linda Colvert and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Melody Jeanene (Roller) Pharris

March 1, 2019

Melody Jeanene (Roller) Pharris, 56 of Silver Point, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.
Melody was born Wednesday, February 27, 1963, in McMinnville, Tennessee.  She was the daughter of the late Samuel Adams and Phyllis (Green) Roller.
Melody cherished her husband of many years, Pat (Bozz) Pharris.  She treasured her family and friends.  Melody had a great love for being outdoors and had a genuine passion for flowers.  She was deeply religious and spread love everywhere she went.  Her family asks for continued thoughts and prayers for the days to come.
Melody is survived by:
Husband, Patrick “Bozz” Pharris; Brother, Randy and Paula Roller; 3 Sisters, Tracy and Stuart Brown, Thena Edwards and Tony Fuston, and Angie and Michael Ellis; 2 Brother in Laws, Dale and Glenda Pharris, and Eddie and Gayle Pharris; Aunt, Vivian Sinks; Grandfather, Arthur Page; 2 Step-Daughters, Shawna and Ben Owens and Krisheena and Blake Dishman; 3 Grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Brienna and Brody Owens; and Many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Melody was preceded in death by Mother-in-law, Ressie Pharris; and Grandparents, Theopolis and Beatrice Green, and Robert and Nellie Roller.
Melody chose cremation, the family followed her wishes and a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
