Edmonda Stephens was born March 27, 1921 in Warren County,
Tennessee to the late Oscar Waymon (O.W.) and Ollie Mae
Adcock Young. Edmonda passed away on June 30, 2019.
In addition to her parents, Edmonda was preceded in death
by her husband James Howard Stephens, daughter Carolyn
Oliver, and son-in-law BK Luna Brothers: Calbert Young, Barnett Young, Carl Young,
Harold Young, and Oscar (JR) Young.
Sisters: Ruth Taylor and Clayton Cope
Edmonda is survived by her daughter Jo Luna of Sparta. Sister: Dora and Dan Cummings of Sparta
Grandchildren: Stephen and Jill Luna of Sparta; Brent and
Gina Oliver of Alabama; Julie Walker of Sparta.
Great-
Grandchildren: Brittani and Brandon Luna and Molly
Walker all of Sparta; Abby Kate Oliver, Emma Grace Oliver,
and Maddie Grace Bailey of Alabama.
Sister-in-laws: Nora Young of Smithville and Gladys Prater of Murfreesboro.
Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends that loved
her and she loved them.
Special friends Brenda Templeton, Jim Brown Metcalf.
Family adopted by heart: Sandy, Sonya, and Seth
Daniels; Nick and Shea Wilson; Midge Luna Taylor and
Kristi Hutchings; and the late Leta Payne family.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta with burial in the Indian Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday evening.
William “Bill” Patrick

William “Bill” Patrick age 84 of Smithville passed away Friday morning, June 28, 2019 at his residence. He was born March 25, 1935 in Athens, AL. Mr. Bill was a sewing machine mechanic, affiliated with New Life United Pentecostal Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Posie Flanagan and Pauline Patrick; daughter, Sabra (Noel) Redmon; son, John Rice; grandson, Stephen Patrick. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Patrick of Smithville; 5 children, Angela Jarvis of Smithville, Teresa Patrick of McMinnville, Jerome (Rhonda) Patrick of Silver Point, Loretta Elkins of Smithville and Christina Jones of McMinnville; step-daughter, Sandra Jones of McMinnville; 16 grandchildren; 1 brother, Ray Flanagan. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Monday, July 1, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Cornelius officiating and burial will follow in Taylor Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Sunday 1 PM until 5 PM and Monday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Emilio Hernandez Cruz age 52 of Smithville went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday night, June 26, 2019 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was born April 3, 1967 in Tuxtla, Mexico. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Eliud Hernandez Cruz. He worked in landscaping. Emilio had been ministering the gospel since the age of 16 and had ministered in Smithville for the last 17 years most recently pastoring at La Hermosa United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Maria Hernandez of Smithville; 5 children, Esther, Claudet, Liliana, Ricardo and Antonio Hernandez; 3 grandchildren, Alejandra, Aaron and Angelique. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 30 at the Smithville First Baptist Church, Life Enrichment Center with Pastor Felipe Barrios officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 at The Life Enrichment Center. Burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements

Jerry L. “Buckwheat’ Johnson age 70 of Smithville, passed away Thursday June 27, 2019 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. He was born March 18, 1949 to his parents, the late Wilson B. and Emma Lee Taylor Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Hobbs; grandson, Caylix Johnson; brother, Ray Johnson and sister, Dorothy Haggard. He owned and operated Model City Auto Sales and was in the trucking business. Buckwheat is survived by 1 son, Chad Johnson of Smithville; 7 grandchildren, Bentley Hobbs, Brantley Johnson, Carmen Johnson, Aspen Johnson, Emma Johnson, Makira Johnson and Kelvin Reagan; son-in-law, Josh Hobbs; 2 sisters, Kathleen Mahler and Era Billings both of Sparta; former wife and mother of his children, Judy Johnson of Smithville. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday, June 30, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 2 PM until 8 PM and Sunday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
