Frances Rigsby

Frances Rigsby age 87, passed away June 22, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. She was born June 6, 1936, to her parents the late James Isaac and Alton Smith Alexander.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Lori Ann Nokes; brothers: James Isaac, Bill, Nick, and Jimmy Alexander, and Infant Brother; sisters: Mary Foster, Audrey Elam, and Dorothy Bennett. Ms. Rigsby was a member of Indian Creek Memorial Baptist Church, and a Homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jackie Rigsby of Smithville; son: Jackie Darrell Rigsby of Smithville; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister: Nancy Colwell of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2:PM Sunday, June 25, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Ric Lee and Terry Fesler officiating and burial to follow in Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, June 24, 2023, 3:PM until 8:PM and on Sunday, June 25, 2023, 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.  In addition to flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp, the Church or Charity of your choice. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Shelia Lavon Adamson

Shelia Lavon Adamson age 69 of Smithville passed away on Saturday morning, June 17, 2023, at her residence. She was born January 23, 1954, to her parents, the late Floyd and Jossie Dempsey George. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Adamson; son, Carl Eldridge, Jr.; 2 sisters, Caroly George and Jackie Burton. She worked for 15 years at Star Manfacturing and was a homemaker. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church. She is survived by 4 daughters, Betty Simmons of Pikeville, Martha (Richie) Knowles of Smithville, Mary (Mark) Fritts of Soddy Daisy and Jossie Bock of Smithville; grandchildren, Gabriel (Kylee) Knowles, Hannah Knowles and other grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Emberleigh, Emryn and Enslee Knowles and other great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Patricia Smith of Murfreesboro and Deanda Wilkey of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment will be 1:PM Monday, June 19, 2023, at Salem Cemetery in Liberty with Richie Knowles and Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will not be any visitation at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 1:PM Monday. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Sharon Nichols Beaty

Sharon Nichols Beaty, wife of Dale Beaty, born September 29, 1949, passed away surrounded by family on June 15, 2023 at St Thomas West hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Marie Nichols and grandmother Alma Estes Patterson. Sharon graduated from DeKalb County High school and Tennessee Technological University. In 1987 Sharon purchased Nichols Jewelry in Cookeville where she resided with her 3 children, Jennifer Hornaday Light, Amanda Hornaday Mathis, and Lori Hornaday Purnell. until 1997. Sharon and Dale resided in McMinnville until they moved home to Smithville in 2009. Sharon was a hard working lady who loved her family. She was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years Dale Beaty, her 3 girls Jennifer (Brian) Light of Knoxville, TN, Amanda Mathis of Smithville, Lori (David) Purnell of Lebanon, TN, and son Michael (Monica) Beaty of McMinnville. Sharon, known as Grancie to many, is also survived by eight grandchildren who were her pride and joy and she was so proud of them all; Abby Evans of Smithville, Avery Light of Knoxville, Ben Purnell of Lebanon, Jake Light of Knoxville, John Pearce Light of Knoxville, Jackson Mathis of Smithville, Lilly Kate Purnell of Lebanon, Adaline Beaty, Blake, Brinley and Levi, all of McMinnville. She is also survived by her older brother, Glen (Margaret) Nichols and two very special nieces, Kerri (Adam) Hudson of Franklin and Patterson Wilson of Knoxville.
Visitation will be Monday at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home from 4-8 pm and Tuesday from 9 until the service begins at 11. Burial will follow at the Robbins cemetery in Monroe, TN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smithville church of Christ in memory of Mrs. Sharon.

Patricia Ann Bain

June 15, 2023

Patricia Ann Bain age 78 of Alexandria died Wednesday evening at St. Thomas – Dekalb Hospital in Smithville. Born Sept. 18, 1944 at Temperance Hall, she was the daughter of the late Alta Washer Fitts and Ruby Gordon Fitts and was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Otis Bain, Jr; and brothers, James Thomas “Red” Fitts and Joe Gordon Fitts. Patricia was a member of Walkers Creek Baptist Church and was a former employee at Lux Time Division and Norvell. Patricia is survived by her sons, Buddy Gordon Bain of Alexandria and Bobby (Shannon) Bain of Lebanon; sisters, Mary Fitts Ray and Barbara Fitts Ray both of Brush Creek and Brenda Fitts Wooden of Alexandria; brother, Stephen Fitts of Brush Creek; sisters-in-law, Jane Bain of Sykes and Jean Hackett of Gordonsville; nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at New Hope Cemetery in Alexandria with Bro. Josh Martin officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday graveside. In lieu of flowers memorials in Patricia’s name may be made to Anderson Funeral Home. ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, Alexandria.




Frances Mai Lawson Shultz

June 12, 2023

Frances Mai Lawson Shultz, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at her residence. She was a Baptist and a retired custodian at City Hall.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 14 at 2pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with interment to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 10am-8pm and on Wednesday from 9am- the time of service at 2pm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Limmie and Ruby Estes Lawson; son, Danny Hobbs; great-grandson, Aiden Felts; 2 brothers, Javen Lawson and James Lawson; sister, Louise Lawson.

Ms. Frances is survived by 2 daughters, Judy Pack and Sandra (Michael) Tisdale both of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Angie “Number 1” (Chad) Judkins of FL, Johnny (Brittany) Pack of Centertown, Jessica (Kelvin) Hobbs of Rock Island, Riley (Kayla) Bullard of Smithville, Cassondra Allen of Smithville, and Zachary Tisdale of Smithville; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers, Daniel “Buck” (Jeanen) Lawson, Robert (Betty) Lawson, Terry (Evelyn) Lawson, Jerry (Virginia) Lawson all of Smithville, Jimmy (Betty) Lawson, Billy (Linda) Lawson of Woodbury, and Charlie Lawson of Smithville; 1 sister, Janie Spurlock of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Cindy Lawson of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews.

Douglas Antony Hendrixson

Douglas Antony Hendrixson age 21 of Dowelltown, passed away Friday night at his residence. He was born January 14, 2002 in Lebanon to his parents, Doug and Shelly Hendrixson. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virginia Hendrixson; great-grandparents, Dewey and Brenda White; James Raymond; Robert L. and Mary L. Hendrixson. He is survived by his parents, Doug and Shelly Hendrixson of Dowelltown; sisters, Emily and Hailey Hendrixson of Dowelltown; grandparents, Dana and James Frazier of Woodbury, Joe Hendrixson of Liberty and Ricky Raymond of McMinnville; great-grandmother, Barbara Raymond of McMinnville; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
