Chad Everett Brant

March 2, 2023

Chad Everett Brant, age 45, of Clarksville, TN, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Summitt Medical Center. Chad also known as “Goofy” was born March 4, 1977 in Hayti, MO to Jimmy Brant and Martha Adkins Brant. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Scott and Jessie Brant and James “Bill” Adkins. Chad leaves behind a loving wife, Candace Brant; sons, Malachi and Rico; parents, Jimmy and Martha Adkins Brant; brother, Jimmy “JJ” (Grace) Brant; sister Laura Brant (Jason Burton); grandparents, Margie (Gary) Williams; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Chad was retired from the United States Army having served in Germany, South Korea and Afghanistan. He was a member of Community of Hope First Nazarene Church and was formerly active in Clarksville and Montgomery County Car Clubs. Chad loved his family and Country. Goofy was always telling jokes, being funny and happy having fun. As he said, “be happy, it drives people crazy.” The family chose a cremation with arrangements by Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home in Clarksville. Deane Beckham Traughber Morgan

March 2, 2023

Deane Beckham Traughber Morgan age 92, passed away February 27, 2023 at N H C of Smithville. She was born October 13, 1930 to her parents the late Cleve and Bessie Beckham. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Jim Traughber and Richard Morgan; son James King Traughber III; 3 sisters, Nellie Jean Deason, Lucille McGee, and Wilma Lawson. Ms. Morgan was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. Deane enriched many lives in her family roles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. Her tapestried employment history spanned several careers and countries. After high school in Pulaski, Deane attended Tennessee Tech University for two years. With frequent moves for a military husband, she worked as secretary and office manager in Tennessee, Georgia, New Mexico, Germany and Kentucky. Returning to school, she completed a teaching degree at the University of Alabama. Her first teaching assignment was Big Tancook Island, Nova Scotia, Canada where she taught K-6 in a one room schoolhouse, then high school English in Chester, Nova Scotia. Returning to USA, Deane worked as a real estate agent while completing her MA in psychology at Middle Tennessee State University. She then worked as a therapist and a long-term care ombudsman for TN Commission on Aging, retiring in 1990. She is survived by daughter, Belinda Traughber of Smithville; granddaughter, Mariah Traughber Bragg of Smithville; grandson, Kai Traughber Bragg of Oregon; nieces and nephews also survive. The family has honored Ms. Morgan’s request to be cremated. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to DeKalb Animal Coalition in memory of Ms. Morgan. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Lloyd Ellis “Monk” Anderson

February 25, 2023

67-year-old Lloyd Ellis “Monk” Anderson of Smithville passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. He was retired from Texas Boot and DeKalb County Animal Shelter. Mr. Anderson attended Mt. Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00am at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bernard Houk and Bro. Graden Kirksey will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday from Noon until 7pm, and Monday from 9am until the time of the service at 11am.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by parents Robert Ernest and Hallie Elizabeth Gaines Anderson; 3 Brothers, Robert, Ronnie, and Danny Anderson; and 1 Sister, Debrah Templton.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Anderson of Dowelltown; 2 Sons, Steven (Josie) Anderson and Bobby Anderson of Dowelltown; 4 Grandchildren, Briston, Kelsea, Zaylyn, and Oaklynn Anderson; 3 Sisters, Gail (Jimmy) Phillips of Monterey, TN, Darlene (Arnold) Conley of Smithville, and Cheryl (Barry) Trapp of Smithville.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to DeKalb County Animal Coalition, or the charity of your choice.

Pamela Sue Cantrell

Pamela Sue Cantrell age 67, passed away at her residence in Smithville Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was born July 9, 1955 to her parents the late Travis and Elverta Saylors Parsley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Ronnie Parsley. Mrs. Cantrell was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Chruch and worked as Secretary at S & W. She is survived by her husband, McClure Cantrell of Smithville; children, Chad Davis (Wendy) Cantrell of McMinnville, Tara (Sonny) Stults of Smithville; grandchildren, Emily Cantrell, Addison Cantrell, Gunner Stults, Corbin Stults, and Oakley Stults; sister, Gina Stone of Smithville; brothers, Travis Parsley, Jr. of Smithville and Terry Parsley of Michigan; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, February 26, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ric Lee officiating and burial to follow in Young Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 11:AM until the time of the service at 3:30PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. In addition to flowers donations may be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp or Young Bend Cemetery. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Albert Gore Adcock

Albert Gore Adcock age 82, passed away at his residence in Smithville on Thursday February 23, 2023. He was born April 11, 1940, to his parents the late James Otis and Bessie Lue Young Adcock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Adcock; son, Davy Adcock; brothers, Jewel Adcock, Manuel Adcock, James Adcock, Franklin Adcock, and Ray Adcock; sisters, Irene Turner and Katie Adcock. Mr. Adcock was a member of Keltonburg Church of Christ and worked as a Self-employed Carpenter. He is survived by daughter, Emma (Eugene) Adkins of Smithville; granddaughter, Ellie Anne Adkins; 1 brother, Mitchell (Imogene) Adcock of Smithville; brothers-in-law, Eddie (Carol) Green of Smithville, John (Judie) Green of Sparta, Jack Green of Smithville, and James (Ginny) Green of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Sarah Adcock of Bradyville and Joyce Carman of Louisville, KY; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2:PM Sunday February 26, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Eugene Adkins officiating and burial to follow in the Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday 3:PM till 7:PM and Sunday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund in memory of Mr. Adcock. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Emma Jean Martin

February 23, 2023

Emma Jean Martin, age 98, passed away Wednesday February 22, 2023 at N H C of McMinnville. She was born October 8, 1924 to her parents the late Robert and Novella Knowles Pinegar. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Martin; grandparents, Levi Dodd and DeLila Webb Pinegar, and Representative John Henry Savage and Catherine Taylor Knowles; brother, Ben Pinegar; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Othel) Smith; niece Linda Smith. Ms. Martin was a Methodist and worked as a teacher with the DeKalb County School System for 44 years. She is survived by daughter, DeLila (Phillip) Prater of Springfield, VA; niece, Pier Vaughn of Nashville; and special Caregivers. Funeral services will be Friday February 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday 3:00 PM till 6:00PM and on Friday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. In addition to flowers donations may be made to Justin Potter Library.
