Bro. Royce Martin age 79, of Liberty passed away December 19, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born April 7, 1942 to his parents, the late Dewey and Macon Dale Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Martin; brothers, William Martin and Charles Martin; sisters, Estelle Baker, Genelle Dodd, Lavelle Smith, and Marie Stephens. Mr. Martin was a retired pastor. He is survived by his daughter: Deanna Hall of Lebanon; son, Curtis (Kim) Martin of Liberty; grandchildren: Heather (Camden) Griffin of Mt. Juliet, Matthew (Shelby) Hall of Mt. Juliet, Joshua Martin of Liberty and Emma Martin of Liberty; soon coming great-granddaughter: Avery Griffin; sister: Helen Swan of Knoxville; special friend: Pat Mitchell; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 23, 2021 at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Family and Friends officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00PM till 7:00PM and on Thursday 9:30AM until the time of the service at11:00AM. In addition to flowers the family ask that donations be made to Gideons International. Jordan Thomas Adams age 36 of Smithville, passed away Saturday December 18, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1985 to his parents, Danny “Peewee” and Marlene Adams of Smithville. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Donald Smith, Viola Cole, Sammie Adams. Funeral services will be held 11:AM Wednesday December 22, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bill Robertson and Scott Pack officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. Survivors include his parents: Danny “Peewee” and Marlene Adams of Smithville; Sister: Danielle (Anthony) Carr of Smithville; Brother: Blaine (Kayla) Adams of Smithville; Grandmother: Margie Smith of Smithville; Grandfather: Norman Cole; Nieces: Katelyn Carr, Hannah McBride, Avery Carr; Nephews: Elijah Carr, Crew Adams, Christian Adams; Great Niece: Bella Truitt; many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive. 86-year-old Charles Reed Crook of Alexandria died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a DeKalb County native and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ronnie Smith and Ricky Scruggs will officiate, and burial will be in the Dismal Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Crook was preceded in death by his parents, Willy Crook and Ida Bell Sandlin; his wife of 68 years, Taye Crook; a son, Billy Wayne Crook; his brother, Roy Lee Crook; and his sister, Betty Jean Spencer. He is survived by his children, Mary Lou and husband Tom Baumann of Smithville, Judy Ann Crook of Alexandria, Cathy Bayne of Murfreesboro, Dan and Angela Crook of Lebanon, and Brenda and husband Jonathan Hammond of Columbia. Grandchildren, Jason Nixon of Knoxville, Jeff and Sarah Nixon of College Grove, R.D. Bayne of California, Christopher and fiancé Elizabeth of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kayla Crook of Lebanon, Joshua Crook of Hermitage, and Austin Hammond of Columbia. Great grandchildren, William Nixon, Mary Nixon, Jordan Bayne, and Grace Bayne. Brothers, J.T. and wife Joyce Ann Crook of Lebanon, Wayne and wife Sara Crook of Lebanon; and a sister, Joyce Hale of Liberty. Lance Corporal Alberto Lucio was born on May 28, 2001 in Smithville, Tennessee. He joined the Marine Corps on September 9, 2019 and was given the military occupational specialty of Military Police. Upon completion of his basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina he went on to complete Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina and Military Police Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon completion of MOS school then PFC Lucio reported to the Provost Marshal’s Office, Security and Emergency Services Battalion, Camp Pendleton California. PFC Lucio was assigned to 2nd Platoon, Military Police Company. He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in 2020. He established himself as a Marine of good conduct and great character who could be counted on to assist anyone in need.

While serving with Military Police Company, LCpl Lucio was charged with the duties of maintaining the well-being and safety of Camp Pendleton’s Marines and civilians. His good nature and sincerity earned him the admiration and the respect of all he came in contact with. His friendly nature and warm hearted demeanor endeared him to everyone, and set him apart as someone his peers could confide and find friendship in. Throughout his time in the Marine Corps, LCpl Lucio distinguished himself as a dedicated professional and a Marine of great character. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. As a man, Marine, husband, and friend, he was deeply admired and will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Lance Corporal Alberto Lucio is survived by his wife Stephany Lucio; parents, Jose Alberto Lucio (Father), Nereyda C. Lucio (Mother); sisters, Erika Alejandra Lucio, and Abigail Grace Lucio.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 18 at 2:30pm at First Assembly of God. Visitation with the family will be from 10am until 2pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home chapel. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

David Allen Cobb, Jr. age 39 of Smithville passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at his residence in Smithville. He was born January 8, 1982 to his parents David Allen Cobb, Sr. and Leslie Smith Cobb. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Cobb; grandparents, James Leslie “Smitty” Smith, Doris Smith, Shirley Stevens and Bruce Cobb. Mr. Cobb worked as a mechanic. He is survived by wife, Alicia Nichole Cobb of Smithville; 2 children, Layne Cobb and Kaydance Cobb; father, David Allen Cobb, Sr. of Springfield, OH; mother, Leslie Smith Cobb of Smithville; 2 brothers, Ryan (Amanda) Beard of Smithville and Austin Cobb of McMinnville; sister, Taren Beard of Smithville; 7 nieces and nephews, Devin, Jaelyn, Raiden, Adalynn, Little Shirley, Raelyn, Kayleigh. Funeral services will be Thursday December 16, 2021 at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in the Linder-Hodges cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday December 16, 2021 at 10:00AM until the time of the service at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Elese Sisco Mathis age 92 of Watertown, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. Born March 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Daisy Baker Sisco and was preceded in death by a sister Peggy Lancaster, brother, Sam Sisco and nephew, Kenneth Sisco. Elese’s husband, Medford Mathis died on Feb. 14, 2018. She was a longtime retired employee of Precision Rubber Products in Lebanon. She is survived by her nephews, Danny Adamson and Don Adamson both of Liberty, Jimmy (Robbie) Sisco, Terry (Judy) Sisco, Ashton Sisco; nieces, Laurie (Curtis) Graves, Malinda (Eric) Waterson, Sharon (Frank) Pfeifer, Kimberlee (Dustin) MacDuff, Annette Chandler; 11 great nephews, 8 great nieces, 3 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew; special friends, Nell McKinney, Barbara Fister, Tammy Cline, Jan Taylor and Emma Ashford. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 at Salem Cemetery in Liberty with Bro. Mike Carpenter officiating.
