Dorothy Corrine Melton, 83, of Liberty passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb. She was born in Rutherford Co., to her parents, Delta Gray Jones and Earlie Ester Hale Jones.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stanton & Mary Elizabeth Melton of Cherry Valley, IL.; grandchildren, Teneia (Rodney) Capes, Jordan (Sabrina) Melton, Jonathan (Allison) Melton; great grandchildren, Natalie, Brianna, Noah, Levi and Jay.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Melton was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton White Melton; brothers, James C. Jones, Oren Hale Jones and Howlett Gray Jones.
A member of Mt. Moriah Baptist church, DeKalb Co., Corrine was retired from Colonial Corp. where she was a seamstress. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed Tolle painting and was an excellent cook.
Funeral Services will be 11 am, Tues., Jan. 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Pelham and Bro. Nick Pelham officiating. Interment will follow in Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4 pm – 8 pm Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 and Tues. until time of service.

John Henry Thweatt

Mr. John Henry Thweatt, age 86 of Smithville passed away Sunday evening, January 5, 2020 at NHC Healthcare of Smithville.
Mr. Thweatt was born July 10, 1933 in Smithville to his parents, the late Clyde & Ruthiene Thweatt. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955. John Henry worked for Tom’s Foods as a deliveryman for many years until 1990 when he was elected to public office. He served DeKalb County as County Clerk from 1990-2002. John Henry was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. All who knew him affectionately knew John Henry as “The Peanut Man”.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Dan Gulley will officiate and burial will be at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 7th from 10am-8pm and Wednesday, January 8th from 9am until service time at 2pm.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Ruthiene McCormick Thweatt; 1 Sister,Thelma Russell; 2 Brothers, Clarence Thweatt and Kenneth Thweatt; 1 Nephew, Phillip Russell.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Thweatt of Smithville; 4 Nephews, Gary Russell of Smithville, Brent (Sandy) Russell of Smithville, Kenneth Russell of Smithville, and Greg Thweatt of California; 2 Nieces, Tammy (Alan) Greer of Franklin and Anita (Jimmy) Puckett of Smithville; 1 Brother, Douglas (Donna) Thweatt of Gallatin; 2 Stepsons, Ronnie Herman and Jayma of Smithville, and Mike (Joanna) Herman of Smyrna. 2 Step grandchildren, several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins also survive.
In addition to flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Smithville Church of Christ Building fund.
Josephine Keith

Mrs. Josephine Keith, age 89 of Smithville passed away Thursday evening, January 2, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Keith was a retired Inspector from Genesco, and attended the Mt. Ararat Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:30pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Hale & Bro. Steven Osment will officiate. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, January 4th from 4-8pm & on Sunday, January 5th from 12pm until the service time at 2:30pm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvia Keith Jr., Parents, Bob & Mary Nokes McGee. Grand daughter, Leslie Knott & 2 Brothers, Sam & Red McGee. Survivors include her Daughter, Joan & Danny Washer & Son, Jimmy & Linda Keith both of Smithville. 6 Grand Children, Lori & Tim Panter, Jennifer Knott, Adam Washer, Brandon & Chasity Keith all of Smithville, Andrew & Andria Keith of Dowelltown, Nick & Lauren Keith of Liberty. 9 Great Grandchildren, Jacob and Krysta Pedigo, McKayla Poss, Justin & Sarah Poss, Hanah Panter, Hannah, Everly & Parker Keith, Haylie & Peyton Washer. 3 Great Great Grandchildren, Kendall & Sylvia Poss, & Teagan Pedigo.

Frances Stults

77 year old Frances Stults passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at her residence. She was a faithful member of Smithville Church of Christ and former owner, with her husband, of Sonny’s Bait and Tackle. Ms. Frances loved God, her family and enjoyed sewing and baking. Funeral services will be on Sunday, January 5 at 1 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with interment to follow at 3:30 at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Crossville. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Stults; Parents, Rufus and Dean Harris; Daughter, Marsha Herman; and brother, Vernon Harris. Survivors of Ms. Stults include two children: Kenny (Tavia) Stults and Kim Stults all of Smithville; Six grandchildren: Jackie Davidson of Smithville, Julie (Mike) Richardson of Mt. Juliet, Jodee (Luke) Prichard of Alexandria, Jacob Herman of Nashville, Katie (Jon) Slager of Murfreesboro, and Sonny (Tara) Stults of Smithville; Eight great grandchildren: Jessica Davidson; Gunner, Corbin, and Oakley Stults; Livy Slager, Zane Richardson, Kennedee and Katie Jo Prichard; Sisters: Peggy Houston, Betty Lemming, and Diane Phillips, and Brothers: Harry Harris, Lowell Harris, and Donald Harris. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Rebecca Lane Vaughn

Rebecca Lane Vaughn age 83, passed away Monday morning at her residence. She was born February 24, 1936 to her parents, the late James A. and Mary Gertrude Cripps George. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell D. Vaughn; brothers, John Robert and James Harold George; sister Vernie Mae George; infant brother, Ollie George. Ms. Vaughn worked in Nursery and was a founding member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Russ) Mullen of Woodbury, and her son, Terry (Charlotte) Vaughn of Smithville; grandchildren, Chelsea, Trevor, and Marcus Vaughn, Ben and Rachel Mullen; brother, Hank George of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews; and lots of friends also survive. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ted Stoffel officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 4:00PM until 8:00PM and Saturday 9:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Joe Mason Bond

Joe Mason Bond of St. James, Missouri passed away Saturday December 28, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans Home. He was 68 years of age.
Joe was born in Smithville, Tennessee the son of Garrison (G.L). and Grady Bain Bond.
On June 24, 2006 in St. James he was united in marriage to Alice Beatrice Maynard.
Joe Bond is survived by his mother Grady Bond of Smithville, Tennessee, his wife Alice Beatrice Bond of the home in St. James. Son: Phillip Bond (Maria) and Andrew Bond both of McMinnville, Tennessee and Jack Bryd (Andrea) of St. James. Daughters: Amy Judkins of McMinnville, Tennessee and Donna Lorts (Steve) of St. James. Brothers: Danny Bond of Smithville, Tennessee and John Bond of Draper, Utah.
Sisters Linda Gonzles of Waxihatches, Texas and Kathy Stanley of Smithville, Tennessee, along with 8 grandchildren.
Joe Bond grew up in Smithville, Tennessee and after meeting Bea, they moved to St. James. He loved taking care of his farm, mowing and brush hogging his acreage and enjoyed his fishing pond. He was a 34 year Career Army Veteran, and was not shy to share his experiences and story of the Army Life. He will be truly missed.
Joe Bond will lie in state Monday December 30, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 31, 2019 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Lynn Huggins officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Veterans Assistance League. Cards are available at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
