Marie Young Colvert

Marie Young Colvert, 88, died on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County. A life-long resident of Smithville, Tennessee, she was born, September 9, 1931, to Charles and Bertie Turner Young. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of of 52 years, James Bass Colvert; son, Mark Alan Colvert; son-in-law, Marvin Puckett; brothers, Aaron Young (Eva Dean), Bernice Young (Sofia), and Austin Young (Evelyn); and sisters, Magdalene Young Allen (Alonzo) and Virginia Young Gill (Floyd). She is survived by two children, Beth Colvert Puckett, and Steve Colvert (Leigh); three grandchildren, Naith Puckett (Norene), Shea Puckett, and Sarah Beth Colvert; two great grandchildren, Nash and Nora Puckett; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt who will also be missed by her large extended family and her friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Smithville. Visitation will be on Monday, October 28, from 4 – 7 pm, and on Tuesday, October 29, from 11 am until time of funeral service at 1 pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. In addition to flowers, contributions may be made to Smithville First Baptist Church Youth Program.




Tilman Moss Campbell

October 26, 2019

Tilman Moss Campbell, age 73, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was born to his parents the late Jimmy Moss and Beulah Campbell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Campbell; daughter, Brenda Campbell; step-son, Eric Goodson; brothers, Douglas Campbell, Tracy Campbell, and Jessie Campbell; sister, Dean Stanley. Mr. Campbell served in the United States Army, he was a Baptist and a nurseryman. He is survived by his daughters, Stacy Campbell of Smithville, Sandra Campbell-Baker. Brother-In-Law James Stanley, grandchildren, Kayla Mooneyham of Smithville, Brandon Baker of Murfreesboro, Abigail Baker of Murfreesboro, Joshua Baker of Murfreesboro, Jimmy Pirtle of McMinnville, Trevor Campbell of Smithville, and Hannah Cantrell of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be  2 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2019 at Oak Grove Cemetery in McMinnville, Tn. Visitation with the family will be Monday 10 AM until 1 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel at which time will leave for graveside. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Arlene Margaret Drake

October 24, 2019

Arlene Margaret Drake, age 75, passed away October 22, 2019 at Select Medical Center in Nashville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, to whom she was married for over 48 years. Ms. Drake was in the workforce for many years until retiring to Tennessee from New Jersey in 2003. She was a member of Gordonsville Church of the Nazerene and also attended  Indian Creek Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Joseph Drake of Chicago.  Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11:a.m. with Bro. Shane Smith officiating, and burial to follow in  DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 3 until 7:p.m. and on Saturday 9:a.m. until the time of the service at 11:a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gordonsville Church of the Nazarene. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Ricky Andy Lawrence

October 24, 2019

Ricky Andy Lawrence age 61 of Smithville passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 at NHC of Smithville. He was born January 31, 1958 to his parents, the late Frank Buffalo and Emogene Brazier Lawrence. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Lawrence and Michael Lawrence; sister, Gloria Jean Lawrence; special friend and mother of his child, Janice Houk-Zoller. He was retired from Star Manufacturing. He survived by daughter, Nena Cantrell of Smithville; grandchild, Raven Cantrell of Smithville; brother, Frank (Shelby) Lawrence of Smithville; sister, Julie (Bobby) Lawrence Pulley; special lifelong friends, Terry Pedigo and Little Man Pedigo; special nieces; Scarlett Lawrence and her children, Keley Reeder and Ricky Ponder; nieces Donna Estes, Melissa Petty, and Sherry Bloom. A memorial service will be held at Midway Community Center at a later date. In lieu of flowers  the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with final expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Daniel Arthur Adams

October 23, 2019

62 year old Daniel Arthur Adams of Smithville passed away Sunday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a truck driver with Marten Trucking. The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation.. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Mae Pyrtle; father, John Raymond Adams, and a brother, Robert Jim Adams and sister Veronica Sue Adams. Survivors include two sons, Russell Adams of Indiana and Ryan Herron of Smithville. Granddaughter, Gabriella Adams. Sisters, Leatha Skelton, Judy Williams, and daughter Samara Williams, Rita and Randy Brown and Tammi and Anthony Adcock. Brother, Darold and Leighann Carter; sister-in-law, Tina Adams; special aunt, Kay Sexton and much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins especially Kamus Sexton  and Tania Raglin. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked for donations to help with cremation expenses.




Richard M. White

October 23, 2019

76 year old Richard M. White of Smithville passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was retired from Star Manufacturing. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Willie Cameron will officiate. Burial will be in the Dowell Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Friday from noon until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Landis White and Fannie Dowell White. Survivors include a daughter, Sonya White and Tyrone Jackson of Smithville. Two step daughters, Rochelle and Voyd Hogan of Sparta and Beverly Thompson of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Tyson, Tyrique, Tyyare, and Tyiana Jackson all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
