Patsy Goodman age 53, of Smithville passed away Friday morning, September 20, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born August 10, 1967 in Smithville. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Shirley Pedigo and infant brother, Richard Fletcher. She worked at Arnold Marine Canvas and Upholstery and was affiliated with the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, William “Jed” Goodman of Smithville; son, Travis (Bethany) Bogle of Smithville; grandchildren, Landon Colwell, Mckayla Colwell, Madison Bogle, Nicolas Bogle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Pat Goodman; sisters, Julie (Larry) Brown, Margie (Bobby) Hale and Joyce (John) Lyons; brothers, Willie Pascal and Larry (Paula) Pedigo, Jr. ; several nieces, nephews and other family members; special friends, Sue Wheeler and Sondja McLaughlin. The funeral will be Thursday, September 26 at 3 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with David Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Paul Herman Caldwell

70 year old Paul Herman Caldwell of Smithville passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church, a nurseryman, and he worked at Federal Mogul. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dewayne Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Caldwell was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Caney and Clara Mae Lawson Caldwell. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Opal Virginia Caldwell; two sons, Marcus Caldwell and Michael and Diana Caldwell all of Smithville. Grandchildren, Ashly Caldwell, Drew and Shelby Caldwell, and Isaac Caldwell. A brother, Ricky and Brenda Caldwell. Four sisters, Mildred Judkins, Jodie Cole, Patricia Graves, and Evelyn and Terry Lawson. Six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Betty Marie Pryor age 89 of Watertown died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2019 at her residence. Born Feb. 16, 1930 in Sparta, TN, she was the daughter of the late Dayton and Maggie Johnson Patton and she was preceded in death by her first husband, Troy Vanatta, brothers, Jerry, Harold and Dr. William Patton and a stepson, Stephen Eugene Pryor. Betty was a homemaker and a member of Shop Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Pryor of Watertown; daughters, Wanda (John) Craig of Knoxville, Gay (Jerry Paul) Vanatta of Watertown and Amy (Guy) Buckner of Brush Creek; grandchildren, Tim (Nicole) Craig, Todd (Jennifer) Craig, Libby (Daniel Kelly) Vanatta, Jeremy (Sarah) Vanatta, Ethan (Guiliani) Vanatta, Amber, Hannah and Chloe Buckner; great grandchildren, Graham Porter, Laurel and Nicholas Craig, Rachel, William, Lydia and Kate Vanatta; sister, Ann (Dan) Scales of Murfreesboro; brother, Wayne (Sandra) Patton of Lebanon; nieces and nephews; step-children, David Pryor and Janice Smallwood both of Lebanon and several step-grandchildren. Funeral services 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Bo Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at the Vanatta Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Willie Delorese Holt age 80 of McMinnville, TN, died Sunday, September 15, 2019, at her residence. She was born February 28, 1939, in Smithville, TN, was preceded in death by parents Willie Herman and Vella Hazel Cope Barnes, her husband Major Dillard Holt, and brothers Mel Barnes and Jerry Barnes. Mrs. Holt was a retired employee of 17 years of service with Batesville Casket Company and was previously employed with Spartan’s Shirt Factory, Levi Strauss, owner and operator of E-Z Wear, Mid-town Garment, and a member of New Union The Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter Denice (Dave) McCormick-Kreiger, grandchildren Ryan Adcock and Dana (Greg) West, great-granddaughters Sadie West, Shelby West, and Chloe Adcock, step great-grandchildren Elijah Perez and Lacora Nelson, brothers Justin “Tink” Barnes and James Harvey (Lisa) Barnes, sisters Janie (Edward) Hutchings and Patsy (Roy) Ray (best friend and caregiver), sister-in-law Kaye Barnes. Special friends Nancy Sherrell, Wilma Thower, Lynn Cole, Ramie and Joyce Lawson, and Latreva Perez. Many special nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jason L. Lewis will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Angie Kaye Blythe age 47, passed away Thursday September 12, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital E.R. She was born March 25,1972 to her parents Jim and Betty Lawson. She is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Lee Anderson. She was the owner and manager of Angie’s Diner in Smithville and affiliated with Faith Congregational Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Jeff (Bubba) Blythe of Smithville; son, Cody (Megan) Blythe of Watertown; parents, Jim and Betty Lawson of Oklahoma; brother, Bobby Lawson; mother-in-law, Betty Grace of Lebanon; father-in-law, Butch (Jane) Blythe of Lebanon; niece, Ashley Lawson; nephew, Chad Lawson; great-niece Ester Lynn Lawson; great nephews, Connor and Robert Lawson; special friends Tojo Fitts, Don Smith, Johnathan and Barbara Sutton and family, and her softball family. Funeral services will be Tuesday September 17, 2019 at 1:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Thomason officiating and burial will follow in Cummingham Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be Monday September 16, 2019 at 3:PM until 8:PM and on Tuesday 10:AM till the time of the service at 1:PM. Brother Elmer Lee Ellis, Jr.

Brother Elmer Lee Ellis, Jr. of Paris, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 11 at 74 years of age. He was born July 17, 1945 in Alexandria to Elmer Lee Ellis, Sr. and Mary Athalene Ellis.
Junior loved and served the Lord for over 50 years as a Baptist Minister. He worked at TRW-Ross Gear as a machinist/Quality tech for 34 years. He was an avid farmer and was a postal worker in Alexandria and a DeKalb County Commissioner for 10 years. He served on the DeKalb County ECD Board for 8 years. He was a Master Mason for 53 years. Junior loved riding his Harley trike.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Tammy and her husband John Harrington of Paris, Texas; Jeff and his wife Lynette Ellis of Silver Point; and Jamie and his wife Patty Ellis of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Jordy Ellis, Jorjenna and her husband Gemini, Jay Ellis and Kristen Ellis. Great grandchildren, Lene Chrisman, Anthony, Braedyn and Caisyn Ellis. Sister, Mildred Clayborn of Alexandria. Sister-in-law, Becky Hobbs and Brother-in-law, Don Greer of Goodlettsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 56 years, Sue Ellis; Sisters, Jeanette and her husband Jim Fields and Georgie and her husband Johnsie B. Willoughby.
There will be a Masonic Service Monday Sept. 16, 7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home.Visitation with the family will be Monday, September 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, September 17 from 11 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with Brother Jonathan Willoughby and Brother Gary Caplinger officiating with interment to follow in Hillview Cemetery.
