Linda Kay Glenn

October 18, 2023

Ms. Linda Kay Glenn, beloved daughter, sister, aunt & friend went to be reunited with her mom, dad and sister on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Linda was dearly loved by her family & will be greatly missed!

Linda was a sweetheart of a lady, with just the right amount of sass on the side. She brightened the days of those who were blessed to know her. Linda very much enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cross stitching, Hallmark Movies, ‘Murder She Wrote’, ‘Golden Girls’ and traveling with friends while still able to do so; but most of all, Linda loved spending time with those she loved. Oh, did I forget to mention that she was also a master at the game of Gin Rummy & fondly recognized by her family as the Queen of Yahtzee?!?

In the words of Linda’s dear friend, Brenda Tramel:

“Linda was always kind, considerate of all those she met, never met a child she didn’t love (& spoil), always wished everyone the best, never got mad, had a ready laugh, and was always willing to help friends in any way she could.”

In the words of another dear friend, Polly Hill:

“Linda was one of the best people I ever knew. She was one of the best friends I ever had. Linda was so good and kind. She loved to laugh & her laughter made others feel better by encouraging them to laugh along with her. There was nothing not to like about Linda. She would do anything to help anybody. Linda always talked about how she loved her family. She gave her friends the support they needed whenever they needed it. I never saw her upset. Linda was always easy going & ready for any adventures that her friends could dream up; plus, she was always willing to be our chauffeur regardless of how long or short the trip might be. Linda was my friend & I loved her very much!”

After Linda was no longer able to easily leave her home, her besties, Brenda & Polly, would bring breakfast to Linda’s home where they would share laughter and catch up on the latest news.

During Linda’s time in NHC Healthcare Smithville, her loving nephew, Scott, was ever attentive & caring to Linda. He visited her daily and ‘snuck’ in her favorite donuts each Saturday morning. Gena, Scott’s wife, also was ever ready to step in & help Linda with any needs that arose. Truly, they both were such a blessing to Linda during her time at NHC!

While living in McMinnville, Linda was a member of the Bybee Branch Church of Christ. After moving to Smithville, her church home was the Smithville Church of Christ.

A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, October 30, 2023, at 5:20 PM at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will precede from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, TN. Family and friends are invited to share their favorite Linda story or memory. These remembrances may be shared in written form during the visitation, verbally during the graveside memorial service or both per the wishes of each one having a story or memory to share.

Those left to cherish her memory are her niece, Tammy (& Steve) Williams; her nephew, Scott (& Gena) Cripps; her grandnieces, Loren Cripps & Brenna Williams; her grandnephew, Tyree Cripps; dear friends, Brenda Tramel & Polly Hill; sister-in-law by affinity & friend, Brenda Cripps; and several cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Walter L. & Thelma B. (Stiles) Glenn; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley & Johnnie Cripps, Jr.; and dear friend, Joyce Thomason.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Rhody and all the nurses & caregivers at NHC for the kindness and level of care they provided for Linda.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Smithville Church of Christ Work Camp, a caring group of individuals who perform charitable acts in the community.*

(*This group is responsible for the wheelchair ramp at Linda’s residence. This ramp allowed Linda to be mobile for doctor’s visits after she became unable to ambulate distances with her own two legs. Our family is ever so grateful for the blessing of this ramp & the Work Camp volunteers.)
