Thelma Christine Evans age 88, of Smithville passed away Wednesday May 10, 2023 at N H C Healthcare of Smithville. She was born April 10, 1935 to her parents the late Floyd “Cuz” and Lilly Frances Luna Young. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Cordell Evans; son Ricky Evans; siblings, Elsie Whitworth, Lera Baker, Ima Nell Vanatta, Geraldine Hargrove, Herman Young, Alvin Young, Lester Young, Kelly Young, Minnie Atnip, Dallas Young. Ms. Evans was member of New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church, worked at Shirt Factory and was a Homemaker. She is survived by 2 children, Debbie (Brian) Lehan of Smithville and Dell Evans of Smithville; 9 grandchildren, Renee (Jason) Walker, Sarah (Kenny) Haris, Stephanie Barber (Jimmy Atnip), David Evans, Ashley Buchanan, Amber (Jordan) Bain, Ryan Evans (Kelly Roberts), Ethan Evans, Tristen Evans; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Nelson (Dean) Young of Smithville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Elder Ricky Arnold officiating and burial to follow in New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00AM until the time of service at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Bobby McCormick

Mr. Bobby McCormick, age 67, of Smithville passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on July 1, 1955 in McMinnville, TN to his parents, Lester and Merle Adcock McCormick, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was two brothers, Melvin McCormick, and James McCormick and one sister, Faye Adcock.

The family has chosen direct cremation to honor Mr. McCormick.

Survivors include his daughter, Mandy Kay McCormick-Mooneyham; son, Jonathan Kyle McCormick; wife, Patricia Faye McCormick; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Christopher Mooneyham and Megan Nicole Mooneyham; 1 brother, Leonard McCormick all of Smithville; 3 sisters, Ann Hallum of Smithville, Linda McCormick of Centertown, and Kathy Cannon of Rock Island.

The family has requested that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with burial expenses.

Lavelle Turner

Lavelle Turner age 85, passed away Saturday May 6, 2023 at her residence in Alexandria. She was born September 16, 1937 to her parents the late James “Jim” and Shellie Cooper Robinson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Steven Robinson, Jessie Lee Vanatta, Malodia Mathis, Lena Rhody and Truitt Robinson. Mrs. Lavelle was a member of Upper Helton Baptist Church and worked for many years at Alexandria Shirt Factory. She is survived by her husband, Willie Turner of Alexandria; sons, Ronnie (Theresa) Turner of Liberty, and David (Roenia) Turner of Alexandria; grandchildren, Deidre (Jerry) Cordova of AR., Lindsay (Daniel) Greer of Portland, Tayla (Braden) Wade of SC., and Tia (Jessie) Adcock of Smithville; great-grandchildren, Felex, Raegan, Jaxson, Luke, Judah, Caven, Caitlyn, Daisy, Bradley, and Isaiah; siblings, Bertha McBride, and Robert Robinson; a host of family and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Arms and Bro. David Revelle officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, May 8, 2023 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at 2:00 P.M.. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International or to Upper Helton Baptist Church Building Fund. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Douglas Walker

Douglas Walker age 83, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at N H C Healthcare of Smithville. He was born January 4, 1940 to his parents the late, Cecil and Maggie Green Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lois Walker; a son Eddie Walker; siblings, Ronnie Walker, Dwight Walker, Cordell Walker, Charles Walker, Lera Arnold, J. B. Walker, Jerry Walker, Faye Griffin, Shirley Cook and infant sister, Melbie Walker. Mr. Walker was a member of Smithville Church of Christ and worked in Nursery. He is survived by 2 children, Jeanette (Kenneth) Neal of Smithville, and Steve Walker (Felicia) of Smithville; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Walker of Smithville; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating and burial to follow in Cantrell cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 11:00AM until the time of the service at 2:00PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Jerry Tex Campbell

67-year-old Jerry Tex Campbell of Alexandria was born August 30th, 1955 in Woodbury, TN to his parents Herbert Thomas Campbell and Alberta Mingle Campbell and departed this life May 4th, 2023. Tex was a lifelong self-employed carpenter and a deacon at Upper Helton Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Upper Helton Baptist Church. Jimmy Arms and David Revelle will officiate and burial will be in the Hunter Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service at 3 p.m.  all at Upper Helton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vivian Campbell, and his children Lacy and her husband Bradley Hall of Alexandria and Tera Campbell of Cookeville. Grandchildren are Mia and Noah Hall. Brother and sisters are AvaNell Cobb, Wilma Bogle, Wayne (Paulette) Campbell, and Teresa (Mark) Houschildt. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Floyd Campbell and sister Wanda Womack. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations may be made in his name to the Upper Helton Building Fund. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.




Annie Puckett

Annie Puckett, age 87, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at her residence in Smithville. She was born March 11, 1936 to her parents, the late Lester and Lori Roller Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville “Spark” Puckett; daughter, Vella Ferrell. Ms. Puckett was a member of Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a Homemaker. She is survived by children, Troy M. (Glenda) Ferrell of McMinnville, Tommy (Lillian) Ferrell of Grundy County, Janie Green of Smithville, Linda Sue (Charles) White of McMinnville, Jimmy (Melissa Ann) Ferrell of Smithville, Patricia (Wayne) Wilder of Estill Springs, Jerry (Delcie) Ferrell of Warren County, Tammy Neal of Smithville, Sandra South of Smithville, Billy Joe (Diane) Ferrell of Rock Island; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Evelyn Crawford of Toledo, Ohio, Dean Pinegar of McMinnville, and Jane Pinegar of McMinnville. Funeral services will be held Friday May 5, 2023 at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Curtis Young officiating and burial to follow in Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday May 4, 2023 at 3:00PM till 7:00PM and Friday May 5, 2023 at 9:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.
