Thomas B “Pete” Tubbs

81 year old Thomas B “Pete” Tubbs of Smithville passed away Wednesday at NHC Smithville. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a construction worker. Visitation will be Saturday at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. The family has requested a private graveside service that will be limited to immediate family only. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mittie Lee Everette Tubbs; two brothers, James Johnson and Charles Johnson; and a sister, Inez Tubbs. Tubbs is survived by three children, Timothy “Tito” Fitzgerald Tubbs and his partner Gordon of Washington D.C., Gregory Alan Tubbs and his wife Renita of Cookeville, and Anthony “Amp” Eugene Tubbs and his wife Angela of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Emisha and Dontey Gay of Cookeville, Anthonique Tubbs of Murfreesboro, Demond Tubbs of Cookeville, Barien Tubbs of Cookeville. Five great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested monetary donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to assist them in providing Pete with an adequate funeral service. All donations will be greatly appreciated by the family.




Robert E. “Gene” Cantrell

Robert E. “Gene” Cantrell age 86 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night, October 23, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.  He was born June 24, 1932 to his parents, the late Lee Jackson and Stella Taylor Cantrell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Claxton Cantrell.  Gene was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and a nurseryman, farmer and retired factory worker.  He is survived by 2 nephews, Boyd (Brenda) Cantrell of Smithville and Claxton (Mary) Cantrell, Jr. of Peoria, IL; 2 great-nephews, Aaron (Sabrina) Cantrell and Collin (Summer) Cantrell; 2 great-great-nephews, Patrick and Knox Cantrell and 1 great-great-niece, McKenzie Cantrell and best friend, Reva Judkins.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bill Robertson and Joel Wood officiating and burial will follow in Cantrell Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 p.m.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers make donations to Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.




Sherlyn Louise Shadron

68 year old Sherlyn Louise Shadron of Smithville passed away Wednesday at her residence. She was a retired waitress and a member of the Church of God. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family has chosen direct cremation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buddy and Verma Smith Roberts; two sons, James Larry Dyal and Shane Steverson; and a sister, Ann Sanchez. Survivors include a son, Kenny and Vickie Dyal of Smithville. Five grandchildren, Amanda and Chad South of Murfreesboro, Jessica Dyal, Kenny Dyal, Jr. and Joshua Dyal all of Smithville and Fallon McDowell of Florida. Fourteen great grandchildren and four brothers also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that in memory of Mrs. Shadron to please make donations to the funeral home to help with final expenses.




James Aaron Webb

October 23, 2018

87 year old James Aaron Webb of the Jefferson Community, Smithville passed away Monday at his home. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a farmer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Johnny Adcock will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Webb was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Martha Ann Jones Webb and two sisters, Lillie “Jack” Thweatt and Josie Pack. Survivors include his wife of 68 years Gloria Webb of Smithville. Two daughters, Connie and husband David Parsley of Smithville and Donna Hendrix-Cripps of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Bruce and wife Leslie Parsley of Smithville, Bridgett and husband Aaron Loyd of Pikeville, Makenzy and husband Caleb Gash of Smithville and Alex and wife Whitney Cripps of Smithville. Ten great grandchildren, Jacob and wife Laura Parsley of Smithville, Courtney and husband Dustin Estes of Smithville, Katherine and husband Josh Hembree of South Carolina, Kristen Parsley of Martin, Connor Rice of Smithville, Samuel, John, and Shayla Loyd all of Pikeville, Britton Gash and Everett James Cripps both of Smithville. One brother, Clarence “Joe” Webb of Smithville. A number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jefferson Cemetery Fund.




Ida Willene Robbins

Ida Willene Robbins age 81 of Smithville passed away Friday night, October 19, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.  She was born May 3, 1937 to her parents, the late Elmore Lee and Maggie Lou Harness Lane.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Bert E. Carter and Henry Robbins; daughter, Brenda Janine Carter Knauer; 2 sisters, Helen Frances Wiseman and Stella Quick.  She was a retired factory worker and Non-Denominational.  She leaves to cherish her memory 4 children, Bob (Tarron) Carter of Dowelltown, Ida Lynn (David) Selin of Riverton, Utah, Roger Glenn (Kathy) Carter of Smithville and Becky George of Smithville; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Ricky Lane of Cookeville and 1 sister, Teresa Whitehead of Cookeville.  Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Thursday, October 25, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale and family members officiating and burial will follow in Byars Cemetery in Gainesboro.  Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.     DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Linda Kay O’Dear Arveaux

Linda Kay O’Dear Arveaux age 58 of Smithville passed away Friday morning, October 19, 2018 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.  She was born October 14, 1960 to her parents, the late George and Kathryn Copeland O’Dear.  She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Bynum John McKelvey, Jr.  Linda was a long haul 18 wheeler and a Methodist.  She is survived by her husband, Rick Arveaux of Smithville; twin sister, Brenda Faye O’Dear Martin of Smithville, sisters, Sue Hopper of Nashville and Kathy Howard of Lafayette, GA.  Visitation will be Thursday 12 noon to 4:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Graveside service  and interment will be Friday October 26, 2018 at 11:AM at the O’Dear Family Cemetery in Sewanee TN. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
