Michael Joseph Lasser age 47, passed away Tuesday August, 4, 2020 at his residence in Princeton, Kentucky. He was born December 28, 1972 to his parents, Harry and Edith Stout Lasser. Mr. Lasser worked as a Therapist and was a member of The First Christian Church of Princeton, Kentucky. He is survived by his life partner, David Rogers of Kentucky; parents, Harry and Edith Lasser of Smithville; brothers, Harry and Brian Lasser of Smithville; special cousin, Melissa Lefever of Tennessee; nieces, Elizabeth, Hannah, Emily, and Allie; nephews, Alex, Nate, and Matthew; many cousins, aunts and uncles also survive, Funeral services will be 5:PM Friday August 7, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday August 7, 2020 at 3:00PM until the time of the service at 5:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Due to the COVID -19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100 – 125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. The Funeral Home Lounge is Closed and NO Food or Drinks are allowed in the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed on DeKalb Funeral Chapel Facebook page. In addition to flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or Venturing Crew Youth Group at First Christian Church. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Alan E. Stengel age 76 of Smithville and a former resident of Oregon, passed away Friday night, July 31, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born September 17, 1943 in Portland, Maine to his parents, the late LeRoy and Ruth Field Stengel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David and Robert Stengel. Alan was a U.S. Navy and Air Force Veteran with 14 years service to our country. He is survived by his wife, Judy Stengel of Smithville; son, Erik Stengel of Colorado; daughter, Donna Stengel Anderson of Oklahoma; daughter, Julie Vincent and son-in-law, Darrin Vincent of Smithville; son, Kevin (Missy) Bailey of Windham, ME; grandchildren, Retha Stengel of California, Shelby (Abby) Morris of Tulsa, OK, Alexandria Morris of Stillwater, OK, Zachary Vincent and fiancé, Olivia Grace Odom, Victoria Vincent, Chandler Vincent and Taylor Vincent all of Smithville, Cassidy Bailey and Aubrey Bailey both of Windham, ME. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday, August 6, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bernard Houk officiating and burial will follow in Keltonburg Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the DeKalb Animal Shelter, in memory of Alan. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Timothy Lynn Culwell

Mr. Timothy Lynn Culwell, age 51 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning, August 3, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.
Timothy was born on December 25, 1968 to his mother, Linda Matthews Culwell and his father, the late Boyd Culwell. Also preceding him in death is a brother, Jimmy Ray Culwell Sr. Nephew & niece, Matt Bates & Christy Culwell. Timothy was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 1pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Andy Patterson will officiate and burial will follow at Bonham Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 3-8pm and Thursday, from 10am until the service time at 1pm. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.
Survivors include his long time Companion, Cookie Johnson of Sparta; her 2 children: Tiffany and Robert Patrick, and Travis and Savannah Melton of Smithville; and her grandchildren: Topanga Patrick , Keirra Patrick, and Weston Melton all of Smithville. Mother: Linda Culwell of Smithville. 1 Sister: Debra Bates of Cookeville. 2 Brothers: Roger Culwell, and Jonathon and Janessa Culwell all of Smithville. Nieces and Nephews: Nickie and Keith Rogers, Carla and Dough Bundrant, Regina and Kyle Geer, and Jennifer and Cody Hawkins all of Cookeville, Hannah Culwell, Noah Culwell, and Jimmy Ray Culwell, Jr. all of Smithville. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Ruby “Susie” Denman

Ms. Ruby “Susie” Denman, age 92 of Murfreesboro, passed away Saturday evening, August 1, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Ms. Denman was born on July 18, 1928 in Fosterville, TN to her parents, the late Walter and Sally Benson Estes. She was a retired owner of Denny Lamp Company, and a member of Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, EH “Denny” Denman, II.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at noon from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Larry Green and Bro. Ronnie Pittlenger will officiate and entombment will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 4pm-8pm and on Wednesday from 11am until the time of service at noon. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.
Survivors include 2 Daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Gerald Elliott of Murfreesboro, Debbie and Brice Reynolds of Knoxville; Son and daughter-in-law: Bud and Bille Denman of Murfreesboro; 6 Grandchildren: Kris and Holly White, Ryan and Jan White, Joey and Emily Petty, Catherine and John Wieshan, Madison and Jake Heatherly, and Payne Denman; and 11 Great Grandchildren.

John Fredrick Roller age 75 of Smithville passed away Friday July 31, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 5, 1944 to his parents the late George Everette and Willie Gray Roller. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter, Sarah Grizzle; grandson, Josh Reece; and brother, William “Baldy” Roller. Mr. Roller worked as a Nurseryman. He is survived by his children, Glenda (James) Hale of Woodbury, Shelia Chapman of Smithville, John (Michele) Roller of Smithville, Donnie (Jennifer) Roller of Smithville, Ronnie Roller of Smithville; grandchildren, Amanda Roberts, Michael Roller, Brenda Tramel, Heather Musick, Samantha Rohling, Johnna Roller, Kaitlyn Roller, Logan & Ethan Roller, Dylan Roller, Brook Roller, Krya Wood, Dallas Roller, Sadie Grizzle, and Slade Grizzle; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia (Andy) Black of Smithville, Virgie (Jimmy) Hendrixson of Smithville, Diane Malone of McMinnville, Barbara Jones of Smithville, Brenda Kaye Roller of Smithville, Kathy (Jake) Adcock of Morrison, Melinda (Darrel) Walker of Morrison; brothers, “Bo” (Mary) Roller of McMinnville, Michael Roller of McMinnville, Richard (Rose) Roller of Smithville, Tim Roller of McMinnville, and Randy Roller of McMinnville; special Aunt, Goldie Ferrell; mother of his children, Shirley Roller; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Tuesday August 4, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Dekalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Glen Chapman and Dereck Johnson officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday August 4, 2020 at 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 3:00PM. William Dunn age 84 of Smithville and long-time resident of Lebanon, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1936 to his parents the late, Howard and Daliah Johnson Dunn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Euola Dunn; sisters, Frances Winfree, and Inez Warden; brother, Edwin Dunn. William served in the United States Army, was retired from Texas Boot where he was a supervisor and did carpenter work after retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Star (Benny) Frederick of Smithville; grandson, Thomas Wayne Frederick of Watertown; great-grandchildren , Alexis Hope Frederick of Smithville, Freya Frederick of Watertown and Remington Frederick of Lebanon; sister, Juanita (Everett) Carrick of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 2 PM Monday August 3, 2020 at Jefferson Cemetery with Bro, Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Monday August 3, 2020 at 12:noon until 1:30 PM at which time we will leave to go to the cemetery for the graveside service.
