Daniel Arthur Adams

62 year old Daniel Arthur Adams of Smithville passed away Sunday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a truck driver with Marten Trucking. The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation.. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Mae Pyrtle; father, John Raymond Adams, and a brother, Robert Jim Adams and sister Veronica Sue Adams. Survivors include two sons, Russell Adams of Indiana and Ryan Herron of Smithville. Granddaughter, Gabriella Adams. Sisters, Leatha Skelton, Judy Williams, and daughter Samara Williams, Rita and Randy Brown and Tammi and Anthony Adcock. Brother, Darold and Leighann Carter; sister-in-law, Tina Adams; special aunt, Kay Sexton and much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins especially Kamus Sexton and Tania Raglin. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked for donations to help with cremation expenses.

76 year old Richard M. White of Smithville passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was retired from Star Manufacturing. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Willie Cameron will officiate. Burial will be in the Dowell Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Friday from noon until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Landis White and Fannie Dowell White. Survivors include a daughter, Sonya White and Tyrone Jackson of Smithville. Two step daughters, Rochelle and Voyd Hogan of Sparta and Beverly Thompson of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Tyson, Tyrique, Tyyare, and Tyiana Jackson all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles “Toots” Pinegar

Charles “Toots” Pinegar of Dowelltown passed away Tuesday morning October 22, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born March 20, 1933 to his parents the late Tom and Prudie Hale Pinegar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, T. J. Pinegar. Mr. Pinegar was a lifelong farmer and a bulldozer operator having cut a lot of roads near the lake. He was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church and a founding member of DeKalb County Rescue Squad. He and his wife were married May 19, 1951. He is survived by his wife, Zada Pinegar of Dowelltown; son, Michael (Gloria) Pinegar of Smithville; daughter, Teresa (Terry) Maxwell of Smithville; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Young of Smithville, Amanda Maxwell of Smithville, and Robbie (Alicia) Maxwell of Dowelltown; great-grandchildren, Trinity and Denton Young of Smithville, Gavin and Braxton Bain of Smithville, Brooklyn Maxwell of Dowelltown; sister Dean (Gene) Cook of Smithville; special friend, Todd Testerman of Smithville; also all his buddies at DeKalb Market. Funeral services will be Thursday October 24, 2019 at 3:30PM with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating and burial to follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:PM until 8:PM and on Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 3:30 PM. In addition to flowers donations may be made to Lighthouse Boys and Girls Ranch. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby L. Cripps, age 84, of Smithville passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. Mr. Cripps was a carpenter and a farmer and a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife: JoAnn Cripps; parents: Roy and Cora Cripps; Sons: Stevie Cripps and Mark Cripps; Daughters: Nancy Cripps and Bobbie Jo Cripps, Brothers: Hoyte Cripps and RL Cripps; Sisters: Nettie Foster, Maireen Garvey, Dorothy Mensuittie, JoAnn Rhody and Judy Hale. Survivors include sons: David and Sheryl Cripps of Smithville, and Gary and Kenderly Cripps of Smithville; Grandchildren: Chala and Caleb McDonald of Texas, Corey and Kami Cripps of Smithville, Brett Cripps of Columbia, Chloe and Justin Winchester of Smithville, and Sophie Cripps of Smithville; great-grandchild: Blakelyn Cripps of Smithville; Brother: Ray Cripps of Smithville; Sisters: Faye West of Smithville, and Wanda and Orville Hendrix of Smithville; Brothers-in-law: Bob and Peggy Motley of Nashville, and Joyce and Dawn Gilliland of White House; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be Saturday October 26 at 11:00 am at Whorton Springs Baptist Church.
