Peggy Stewart

Peggy Stewart of Smithville passed away Sunday afternoon April 22, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital. She was born March 12, 1947 to her parents, the late Gentry Edward Cantrell and Mary Elizabeth Cantrell Priest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ricky Lynn Cantrell and Eddie “Buck” Cantrell and a daughter-in-law, Tina Young. She was the Co-owner of Stewart Auto Grooming, a member of Mt. View Primitive Baptist Church and Peggy’s real enjoyment was the Toys for Tots Ride she organized for over 15 years. Peggy leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 39 years, Phillip Stewart of Smithville; 3 children, Salana Letsinger of Florence, AL, Joe Young of Smithville and Brian (Cindy) Young of Greenbrier; 5 grandchildren, Brittany Faith Letsinger, Spencer Mason Letsinger, Alanna (Brandon) Jones, Cody Lane Lawrence and Emma Leigh Ashford; 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon Jones, Jr., Addison Jones, Ronald “Zeke” Jones, Raylyn Renee Lawrence and Hazley Lane Lawrence; 1 sister, Barbara Farmer of Smyrna and 1 niece, Sundi Blanchard of Smyrna. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 PM Thursday, April 26, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Cantrell Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 3 PM until 8 PM and Thursday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Minnie Willene “Bill” Crawford

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Minnie Willene “Bill” Crawford, age 94, was born October 15, 1923 and died April 22, 2018 at Raintree Manor following a two-week illness.

A homemaker and a member of Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Bessie Whiteaker Butcher. She was married on March 5, 1943 to James Thelvin Crawford who preceded her in death on January 20, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Jerry Crawford; two sisters, Geneva Warren and Emma Jean Cole; and two brothers, Rabon and Alton Butcher.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Crawford of Smithville, TN and Tommy and Leisa Crawford of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and spouses, Tracy Crawford, Blake and Tonya Crawford, Justin and Keri Crawford, Seth Crawford, Toby Crawford, Amy and Daniel Seber, Kandi and Tim Barnes, and Amanda and Bo McCracken; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Irene Butcher of McMinnville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Crawford, Bobbie Crawford and Paul Edward Crawford all of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Shellsford Baptist Church with Chuck Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Shellsford Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at High’s.

Helen Roberts Bannerman Myers

Helen Roberts Bannerman Myers age 80 of McMinnville went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, April 20, 2018 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. She was born September 14, 1937 in Musselburgh, Scotland to her parents, the late William Campbell and Helen Elizabeth Roberts Bannerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 brother, John Hood Bannerman and 1 sister, Elizabeth Anne Raulerson. Helen worked for about 17 years at Lentz Cee Bee and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of New Life United Pentecostal Church and was inducted to the Forbes Clan. A lady the had a passion for souls and was a prayer warrior, she told everyone about Jesus that she met and talked to. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, Billy Carrol Myers of McMinnville; 5 children, Carol Anne (Bruce) Northcutt of Smithville, Brian Keith Myers of McMinnville, Melody Jeane (Tim) West of Smithville, Lisa Gaye (Virgil) Joines, Jr. of McMinnville and Monica Lynne (Jeff) Robinson of McMinnville; 13 grandchildren, Jacob (Whitney) Northcutt, Jesse Northcutt, Jonathan Stuart (Courtney) Myers, Brian Thomas Myers, Sarah Elaine West, Rebekah Jeane West, James Joseph West, Terry Adam West, Mark Christopher (Erin) Joines, Rachel Elisabeth Joines, Stephen Daniel (Heather) Robinson, Dr. Matthew Allan Robinson and fiancĂ© McKenzie Smallwood and Olivia Flanders; 2 great-grandchildren, Bethanie LeeAnn and Gracie Mae Northcutt; 1 brother, William Campbell Bannerman and 1 sister, Isabell Jeane Hart both of Missouri. Funeral services celebrating the life of Sister Helen will be conducted 2:PM Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at New Life United Pentecostal Church with Bros. Dwayne Cornelius and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in the Skurlock Cemetery in Quebeck. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 4:PM until 8:Pm at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Tuesday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2:PM at New Life United Pentecostal Church. Nancy Armstrong

67 year old Nancy Armstrong of Walker Creek Road died Wednesday at her residence. She was an Optician and a member of the Intercontinental Church of God and a devout reader of her Bible. Armstrong graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Eau Gallie Florida in 1968. She was among the founding class of Flager College in St. Augustine, Florida. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in social studies in 1972. She then attended Hillsbourgh Community College and earned her certification as a licensed Optician. She had a successful business; Treasure Coast Optician in Vero Beach, Florida for over 18 years. In 1988 she moved to Tennessee owning and riding several horses. Years later she built her dream house on 14 acres. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Wayne Graves will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Armstrong and June Powell. She is survived by sons, Curtis Fox and Thomas and Tara Fox. Grandchildren, Curtis Fox, II and Zara Fox and a brother, Mayor Bennett Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank all of her family and friends for the many prayers.




Willie Truitt Robinson

90 year old Willie Truitt Robinson of Liberty passed away Sunday at the Webb House Retirement Center. He was a rural mail carrier for 40 years, member of Salem Baptist Church, and a US Navy Korean War and World War II veteran. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Josh Brown will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Robinson and Shellie Cooper; a brother, Stephen Edward; and a sister, Melodia. He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years Margie Smithson Robinson. Children, Vickie and Mike Williams of Alexandria, Donna and Jim Arnette of Smyrna, and Phillip and Susan Robinson of Liberty. Grandchildren, Tara and Joe Beck of Madison, Wisconsin, Bryan Evans of Rockvale, Gwen and Clay Dyer of Murfreesboro, Lauren and Travis Keeton of Soddy Daisy, and Caitlin and Kalahan Potter of Lebanon. Great grandchildren, Collin, Drew, Alex, Miriam, Nate, Aaron, Ethan, Lexi, Lilly Belie, Lydia, Knox, and Brooks. Brother, Robert Robinson of Liberty. Sisters, Lena Rhody of Smithville, Jessie Lee Vanatta of Liberty, Bertha McBride of Smithville, and Lavelle Turner of Alexandria. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Alice Puckett Foster

Ms. Alice Puckett Foster age 96 of Smithville passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at The Webb House in Smithville. She was born August 30, 1921 to her parents, the late Elbridge Kiah and Bonnie Elizabeth Tittsworth Puckett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Foster; grandson, John Richard Foster; 2 sisters, Jo Bradford and Christine Prichard; 2 brothers, Ernest Puckett and Wilburn Puckett. Ms. Alice was an elementary school educator for over 40 years, member of the DeKalb County Retired Teachers and member of the Buckner’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons, Brent (Cheryl) Foster of Lebanon, Mike (Wanna) Foster of Smithville and Rickey Foster (Stephanie Rhodes) of Smithville; 3 grandchildren, Kelli (Jamie) Bullard, Lee Foster (Ruby Stewart) and Michele (Kevin) Carson; 4 great-grandchildren, Brady Foster (Emilee McBride), Elijah, Micah and Kiah Carson; several nieces, nephews also survive. Funeral services celebrating Ms. Alice’s life will be 1 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 3 PM until 8 PM and Tuesday 9 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Relay for Life or Imagination Library in memory of Ms. Alice. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
